Drama & Aht

& Props

We will have a prop list later this week. I will email it out to one and all. Perhaps during spring cleaning you may find some worthwhile stuff for us????

Please, don't forget to vote on the music you can find down below on this page. And PLEASE, don't forget to memorize the script by next week.

And remember the homework for next week is to watch scenes for background actions in films and teevee and how actors listen to each other.

Next week, I am devoting Monday, Tues, and Wednesday nights to DRAMA.

The week after that is VACATION (yeah for the kids, eh?) and then STONE (more yeahs!) and then production week. We may need some parents and/or kids in during Vacation to help paint the sets -- actually screens made out of sheets. Anyone who is going to be around, please email Lyne.

As I told the cast and crew, we need art for the sets. We are going to take their drawings and blow them up via the schools video projector (Mr Cushman we will need access to that over the vacation week, please...) and then paint the art onto the sheets with fabric paint.

Tess and I have volunteered to do the art for the first screen as it is VERY integral to the basic honesty of the Rock Scene.

We were hoping that these could be done in art class, but since time is tight, I would like any cast or crew member who wants to help to do these at home. Make thick lines. Use a sharpie if need be. I want bold pictures up there on the sheets. Thanks. Please bring them in next week so we can select the set design.

The pictures should be landscape -- NOT vertical. 11 wide by 8.5 tall. Black and White thick line drawings.

  1. White (backlit screen)
  2. City Skyline
  3. City Brownstones Apt buildings w/ stoops (stairs)Google Harlem scenes or The Village New York or Lower East Side scenes for research
  4. A different City Skyline (this one will be "shorter")
  5. Country Scene
  6. High School hallway with lockers
  7. Modern Art Google images of Jackson Pollock (drip paintings), Andy Warhol, Claes Oldenburg, Jean-Michel Basquiat for research

Again Thanks!!!!

And PLEASE VOTE ON THE MUSIC BELOW!!!

The First Draft & Music To Rock Out To

THE LIE! first draft is finished. A copy will be going to Mr Cushman for him to review and go over with a fine-toothed comb.

Copies will be handed out at Drama this week. Take any notes you have written onto the previous versions of scenes and put them in this copy.

Here's a link in case anyone needs to review it now, later, sometime in the far future.

THE LIE PDF download

Remember we are taking pictures for the Festival Scrapbook this week.

MUSIC MUSIC MUSIC

I did get a bunch of rock tracks from some friends of mine. The instrumentals are first, then the songs.

Please listen to them all on the player below. And then please vote for the ones you think Patrick should rock out to over there on the right.

Thanks.

Pots and Pans and Crockery, oh my!

Don't forget to bring in old pots or pans or other metal stuff this Tuesday. We're going to have the Crew Guys & Gals work on some sound effects while the cast works on some funny bits. Remember to ask your parents for the items. They will NOT be returned as they are going to become the property of the club for it's Crash Box.

Crewsters and Cast, you might want to check out the videos I collected in the blog of Radio and Movie sound effects.

You can find them here: Sound EFX Videos

This week please also bring in pencils or pen, a pad, and some big fat lies. Lies that were told to you. Lies that you told. Lies that were told in your favorite television sitcom -- where the liars usually end up in some comic situation instead of a tragic downfall.

Think hard about the lie and how you felt when the lie was told to you, or if you told it, or would feel if the fictional lie were told to you.

Bake Sale
Also, thanks so much to everyone who participated in the bake sale, the cooks, the parents, John Hackett for the coordination and those who manned the table (Mrs Williams, Mrs Carnevale, and Mrs Greenberg). And especially everyone who bought something. Clubsters, we made 103 dollars. That's really great! Again, thank you.

January 14th is a WEDNESDAY

Don't show up on Tuesday this week unless you really dig hearing parents discuss tuition costs. There's a Budget Meeting in the School, so we have been moved to Wednesday.

Don't forget to bring snacks and drinks if you need them.

We will be collecting dues during the month of January. Please bring a check payable to St Mary Star of the Sea School for $50.oo. Please write SMS Drama Club in the memo area.

This Wednesday we will be listening to the following students present their Events.
Abby
Adam
Andrew
Brian
Megan
Timothy

Please bring these in as written papers that you can read from.

They can be handwritten. I won't be checking for grammar, spelling, or anything that remotely smacks of Schoolwork. I want you to put down anything you want to that helps us all envision the Event as it happened to you.

Btw, I need to have a handwritten, or typed, version of this as well. (For that matter, will Kylie, Madeline, Mia and Mary please bring in a hardcopy version of their stories.)

Abby, Adam, Andrew, Brian, Kylie, Madeline, Maggie, Mary, Megan, Mia, Timothy, Bill and William; please watch a DVD as well next week and for the meeting on the 2oth please hand in the film portion of the homework. To review what I would like you to do, please follow this link to the January 6th homework.

After the break this week, we will be working in groups to improvise scenes around the Events--what could have happened before, afterwards, or even with new people in the scene during the event.

Also, please go to thesaurus.com and bring in at least two "emotions" for us to fool around with during the exercise session.

Thanks so much. See you Wednesday.
